Kathryn Eident Named News Director

KATHRYN EIDENT NAMED NEWS DIRECTOR OF CAPE COD BROADCASTING NEWSCENTER

Hyannis, MA (October 12, 2012) – Gregory D. Bone, General Partner of Cape Cod Broadcasting, announced Kathryn Eident of Sandwich, News Reporter/Anchor for 99.9 WQRC, Ocean 104.7, Cape Country 104 and Classical 107.5, WFCC, has been named News Director & Director of Public Affairs of the Cape Cod Broadcasting Newscenter.

“I’m thrilled about this opportunity to lead and direct our Cape Cod Broadcasting Newscenter team,” said Eident. “Working with the people at Cape Cod Broadcasting and serving our local community has been rewarding, and the opportunity to be News Director and Director of Public Affairs presents the right opportunity for me to continue my passion for news and my community.”

A Sandwich native, Eident is a graduate of Sandwich High School, starting her radio career early on with her high school radio station, WSDH-FM. She earned her Masters Degree in Journalism from Boston University’s College of Communication and her Undergraduate Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Eident has broad based broadcast and print journalism experience, having reported for NPR outlets, Boston.com, Cape Cod Times, Scientific American and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution magazine, Oceanus.

“Kathryn understands the issues and lifestyles important to the Cape’s diverse community and how important local news and information is to our listening audiences,” said Bone. “She is a natural leader and has the rudder in Cape Cod Broadcasting’s Sunday Journal, our Local Public Affairs program. Giving her the opportunity to direct our Cape Cod Broadcasting Newscenter is the right move to continue our local news and public affairs mission.”
