LAURA RECKFORD NAMED NEWS DIRECTOR FOR CAPE COD BROADCASTING MEDIA

HYANNIS – Friday, February 21, 2014 — Laura Reckford has been named News Director for Cape Cod Broadcasting (CCB). The announcement was made today by CCB General Manager, Beverly Tilden. “Cape Cod Broadcasting has been a trusted resource for local Cape Cod news and information,” said Tilden, “Laura’s experience and leadership will assure that we continue that tradition as we grow and expand our news offerings.”

Laura comes to CCB from the Housing Assistance Corporation where she has been in the Communications & Development Department working on press, publications, grants, social media and website development. She is also the founder of the new online magazine CapeCodWave.com where she currently is editor and publisher. Cape Cod Broadcasting will partner with CapeCodWave.com as part of its development of its website CapeCod.com.

Laura’s news background on the Cape began at Cape Cod Life where she was managing editor and launched their Home Magazine and online editions. She was a reporter who rose to the position of managing editor at The Falmouth Enterprise and then served as editor of The Barnstable Enterprise newspaper. She began her media career in New York City at Entertainment Weekly, Good Housekeeping, Viacom and 20th Century Fox.

“After working in film, television, magazines, and newspapers, I am excited to be working in radio, a medium I have long admired. In addition, I am looking forward to bringing local journalism to CapeCod.com and also enhancing that website with the magazine-style journalism of Cape Cod Wave,” Laura said.

Laura’s freelance work includes articles for the Boston Globe and books for Frommer’s travel guides, marking numerous New England and Cape Cod editions as well as a France guide. She also penned the first edition of Arts and Artisans Trails of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket for the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce. She has won numerous awards from the New England Newspaper and Press Association, including awards for news, crime, education, social issues, arts & entertainment reporting, and editorial writing

A Massachusetts native, Laura is a longtime resident of Falmouth.
